In May, a group of New York-based colleagues and I travelled to Antigua, Guatemala to collaborate with local artisans.
This is new. For me, but also this could be something new for you too.
My name is LiLi. I was lucky to grow up around tools and hinges, making small woodworking projects out of scraps. And learning from a lot of talented woodworkers. For me it was about creative problem solving, functional art, a means of practical expression.
I've always dreamt of creating spaces for people to work and make things together. Eventually, I made my way to grad school and wrote my Industrial Design thesis on designing spaces for creative collaboration and doing it together (DIT, get it?).
That is what this space is supposed to be, eventually. In the meantime, I need to find physical space to do this in. And will highlight other makers and woodworkers around Brooklyn (and beyond).
